Another interesting piece of history in Sedalia is the Manhart Victorian Home. Built in 1889 for Mr. and Mrs. Manhart and their 13 children. Mr. Manhart ran the local general store I spoke of earlier. Early in 1983 the home evolved into Gabriel´s Italian Dining located along Plum Avenue. 303-688-2323 For Reservation. Finest Northern Italian Food in Sedalia around. Gabriel´s has the most beautiful seasonal dressing all about the building. Truly a pleasure to see.
There are other architectural wonders in Sedalia; an Edwardian Vernacular stands proud on Manhart Street. The lovely brick home is a treasured antique store as well.
Not to be out done as far as architecture is concerned, we would be remiss if we did not mention the Cherokee Ranch and Castle in Sedalia Colorado. That´s right, Sedalia has a castle sitting high on a plateau over looking the town. It is a cross between western architecture and Old Scottish homes. The Cherokee was once a working ranch with over 3,000 acres. However today it is preserved open space. The castle is filled with 16th Century art collected by its previous owners. There are historic tours and teas through reservations. The property is a protected wildlife sanctuary.
