Castle Rock Realtor | Real Estate Agents | How To Choose

You are ready to sell your Castle Rock area house, and now you need to interview real estate agents. Please be sure to interview at least 3 Realtors (R) before making a decision.  Things to consider and questions to ask:

1. What are their qualifications?  All prospective agents should appear as if they are applying for a job. You are the boss. Ask where they went to real estate school? Do they have extended qualifications above and beyond the norm?

2. Are they a member of the National Association of Realtors?  Why is this important? By being a member, the agent must uphold the code of ethics of the association, participate in license update classes and behave according to national standards.

3. How many years has your prospective agent been working as a Realtor?  Usually agents with 4+ years have a good grip on the market trends and have exercised plenty of contracts and deals within that time frame.

4. Is the prospective agent a full-time Realtor?  That can have a big influence on whether the agent is active in the market.

5. Does the agent have a marketing program in place? What will he or she do specifically for your listing?  Sometimes agents with a tremendous amount of listings do not have time to specialize or pay particular notice to the things that stand out in your house and will throw it in with the rest on a mass ad.  Understand what the agent promises as a marketing program and hold them to their promise.

6. Does the agent belong to any outside groups for networking purposes? Be sure to understand how the network will work for the sale of your house.  Many agencies have vast networks that can be a huge benefit to the sale of your property.

7. How often will you hear from the agent and how will he/she contact you?  What form of communication will you use for feedback from showings, open house, etc.?

8. Are you comfortable with the prospective agent?  You will be working a minimum of 30 days with that person, so it is important to get along with the Realtor you choose. Do you have a good feeling about the way the agent communicates? do you believe he/she is ethical and honest?  Do not be aprehensive about asking these questions even if it is someone who was referred to you by a close friend or family member.
