A Little History in Castle Rock
Castle Rock was home to the Arapahoe and the Cheyenne Indians in the early days. The mountains that surround the area were good protection from the cold as well as keeping it cool in the summer months. Wild life was plentiful with buffalo, and deer to sustain them. The early trappers and gold miners came through Castle Rock and some of them settled.

Jeremiah Gould having 160 acres to the south of the mountain known as The Rock, donated 120 acres to the town and named it Castle Rock. Douglas County designated the county seat to Castle Rock and the town grew.
